Mauvelle Amethyst Glass Petal Linear Chandelier
Product Description
MauvelleTier on tier of amethyst petals.
Hand-formed amethyst glass petals curve down from a long rectangular frame, each tier stepping in narrower than the one above, like a terrace. Wine-dark by day, it warms to an even, deep plum when lit, and the rippled glass softens every bulb into a glow.
Gold shown

Made for the long table.
Mauvelle suits a table 72–96 in long and at least 36 in wide, usually seating six to eight. Pick your table length to see the fit from above.
Seats six. The 48 in chandelier leaves about 12 in at each end, the closest fit we suggest.
Seats six to eight, with about 18 in to spare at each end: a balanced, generous look.
Seats eight. About 24 in at each end; the longest table we suggest for one Mauvelle.
Also right for a kitchen island of a similar length. Center it over the table or island, long side to long side.
Wine-dark by day, deep plum at night.
The same glass, two moods. Unlit, the amethyst petals read wine-dark against the wall; switched on, the rippled glass warms to an even plum glow.

Formed by hand, petal by petal.
Because each petal is formed by hand, color and shape vary slightly from one to the next, so no two chandeliers are quite alike.

Hand-formed petals
Textured amethyst glass, each petal curved and rippled by hand.

A long rectangle
A metal frame in gold or nickel holds the stepped rows of petals.

Candelabra sockets
E12 / E14 sockets inside the frame; bulbs are not included.

Chain and four cables
A round canopy with a center chain and fine cables that keep it level.
30–36 in above the table.
Hang the bottom 30–36 in (76–91 cm) above the table or island; the chain adjusts up to 39.4 in (100 cm). In an open room where people walk underneath, keep at least 7 ft (213 cm) from floor to fixture.
With the bottom about 33 in above a 30 in table, use about 34 in of the 39.4 in chain. It looks its best under a 10 ft ceiling.
Over a 36 in counter, keep the bottom about 33 in above the surface with about 28 in of chain.
Under a 9 ft ceiling, about 22 in of chain gives the same 33 in over the table.
Chain lengths are approximate, measured to the top of the frame. It is hardwired; installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.
A jewel-toned centerpiece, end to end.
A bold statement for long dining tables and kitchen islands, from bright modern kitchens to candlelit dinners.

Keep every petal glowing.
A light, regular dusting keeps the plum glow clear and even.
-
01
Switch off first
Turn the lights off and let the bulbs and glass cool before you clean.
-
02
Dust the petals
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush, following each curve.
-
03
Support as you wipe
Hold each petal gently from behind so it stays seated on the frame.
-
04
Metal, dry cloth only
Wipe the frame, chain and canopy dry; skip sprays and metal polish.
Before it goes over the table.
Are bulbs included, and which should I buy?
Bulbs are not included. Mauvelle takes E12 / E14 candelabra bulbs; a 3000K warm white LED suits it best.
How big is it?
It measures 48.0 in (122 cm) long, 20.1 in (51 cm) wide and 22.8 in (58 cm) tall.
What size table does it suit?
A table 72–96 in long and at least 36 in wide, usually seating six to eight, with about 12 in to spare at each end.
How high should I hang it?
Hang the bottom 30–36 in (76–91 cm) above the table or island; the chain adjusts up to 39.4 in (100 cm). In an open room, keep at least 7 ft (213 cm) from floor to fixture. It looks best under a 10 ft ceiling.
Which finishes are there, and is it hardwired?
Choose a gold or nickel frame with a matching chain; the glass is amethyst on both, and the photos show gold. It is hardwired, and installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.
Will my petals look exactly like the photos?
Each petal is formed by hand, so color and shape vary slightly from petal to petal. That small variation is part of its character.

Hand-Formed Art Glass, Made to Hold the Light
Every glass piece on this fixture is shaped by hand from molten glass: gathered, blown, colored and cooled one at a time, so the light it carries has real depth.
From Furnace to Fixture in Four Hand-Worked Stages
Nothing here is stamped out by a machine. A single glass piece can take hours from the first gather to the final inspection.

Melt and gather
Raw glass is melted at around 2,000°F, then a glowing gather is lifted from the furnace on the end of a steel blowpipe.

Blow and shape
The artisan turns, blows and reheats the glass, forming it with paddles and hand tools while it is still soft.

Color and texture
Color is worked into the glass itself. That is where the swirls, ribbing and texture you see in the finished piece come from.

Anneal and inspect
Each piece cools slowly in an annealing oven to relieve stress, then is checked by hand before it is fitted to the fixture.
Why Hand-Blown Glass Looks Better in Your Room

Light with depth
Light bends through thick, uneven glass, so it glows softly in layers instead of shining flat, and it is easy on the eyes.
Truly one of a kind
Because every piece is shaped by hand, no two are exactly alike. The fixture you receive is its own.
Color that stays true
Color is fused into the glass, so it will not fade, yellow or peel the way coatings and plastics can.
Beautiful switched off
In daylight the glass still catches the light in the room, so the fixture reads as sculpture, not just hardware.
Hand-Formed Art Glass vs. Molded Glass vs. Acrylic Resin
In a small product photo the three can look alike. Here is how they score where it counts once the fixture is in your home.
What we use
SevernLighting hand-formed art glass
Top marks on every count that shows once it is lit.
Molded glass
Acrylic or resinDepth of light
Light refracts through real glass in a soft, layered glow
One-of-a-kind character
Shaped by hand, so no two pieces are identical
Color over the years
Color is fused in, so it will not fade or yellow
Comfort with bulb heat
Stays stable close to the bulb, year after year
Weight and feel
Solid and substantial, cool to the touch
Lasting value
A piece of glass art rather than a stand-in
A Wide Spectrum of Art Glass Colors
From clear and smoke to amber, blush and olive, our glass is made in a broad range of tones, and many fixtures can be made in a color not listed on the page.

Signs of the Hand, Not Flaws
Hand-formed glass carries small marks of how it was made. They are part of what makes the piece worth owning.
Tiny seed bubbles
Small air bubbles trapped as the glass is worked are a classic sign of hand-blown glass.
Soft shifts in tone
Color may run a little deeper or lighter from piece to piece, much like the grain in natural wood.
Gentle surface waves
Soft ripples and slightly uneven edges catch the light and give the glass a sense of movement.
Product photos show a representative piece. Your glass will differ slightly, and that is what makes it yours.
