Modern Alabaster Petra Wall Lamp

Slices of natural alabaster, stacked into a column of warm light.

The Modern Alabaster Petra Wall Lamp stacks irregular slices of natural alabaster along a slim gold backplate, each one held by a small brass pin. The LEDs sit behind the stone, so what you see is a soft, even glow through every slice rather than a bright point. It comes in five heights on the same 5.1″ width, so one look can work beside a bed, on either side of a mirror, or up a tall living room wall.

Match the Size to Your Wall

Drawn to scale: the taller your ceiling, the more tiers the wall can carry.

Standard 8 ft rooms

Suggested: 2, 3 or 5 tiers

Bedrooms, hallways and entries. The shorter sizes keep a clear gap above the lamp and sit comfortably beside a headboard.

9 to 10 ft rooms

Suggested: 5 or 7 tiers

Living and dining rooms. The 7-tier reads as a strong vertical line beside a sofa, doorway or window.

Tall walls and stairwells

Suggested: 7 or 9 tiers

Double-height rooms and stair walls. The 9-tier keeps its presence where a shorter lamp would look lost.

★

Where It Fits Best

Tall and narrow, it lights a wall without taking floor or table space.

Pair of Modern Alabaster Petra Wall Lamps glowing on either side of a living room fireplace at sunset

★ Best Fit

A pair flanking the fireplace

One lamp on each side of the mantel frames the fireplace and keeps warm light at eye level after the ceiling lights go off.

Also Shines In

✦ Either side of a vanity mirror

✦ Beside framed art on a study wall

✦ Along a hallway

✦ Up a stair wall

✦ In a dining room

Finding Your Fit

Mount it vertically and center it about 60–66″ above the floor, or level with the center of a mirror you are flanking. The 2- and 3-tier sizes suit bedside and hallway walls; save the 7- and 9-tier sizes for tall walls and stairwells.

How the Light Falls

The LEDs are mounted on the backplate, behind the stone. Part of the light passes through each slice as a soft glow; the rest escapes around the edges and lands on the wall, so the lamp lights its own surroundings as well as itself.

A halo on the wall

Light spills past the slice edges and spreads across the wall around the column.

No bare bulb in view

Every LED sits behind stone, so the light you see has already passed through alabaster.

Texture comes forward

Backlit, the veining and rough edges read clearly, even from across the room.

✦

The Stone, Lit and Unlit

Each slice is thin enough for light to pass through, and its edge is left rough rather than polished round. Unlit, the stone shows white with grey clouding and fine amber veins. Switched on, the LEDs behind it turn the whole slice warm and the veins read as soft, darker shading. A small brass pin holds each slice to the gold backplate.

Natural alabaster: no two slices share the same veining, tone or outline, so every Petra lamp is its own piece.

Details Matter

What Makes It Special

A column, not a cluster

The slices step down the wall in a single line, so the whole look fits in 5.1″ of width — right for the narrow strip between two windows or beside a mirror.

Light from behind the stone

The LEDs sit behind the alabaster, so you see warm light coming through the stone and around each edge, never a bare bright point.

One design, five heights

The same slice-and-pin design runs from 11.8″ to 36.2″, and every height is offered as a single lamp or a matched set of two.

⚖

Natural Alabaster vs. Composite Marble

What goes into the Petra, and the low-grade stone it is not made from.

★ Used in the Petra lamp

Natural alabaster

Every slice on the Modern Alabaster Petra Wall Lamp is natural alabaster: clean white stone with soft grey clouding that glows warm and even when lit.

Petra: clean white alabaster, lit from behind

Veining

Soft grey clouding and fine amber lines in clean white stone.

Light

Passes through evenly and warmly, so the glow shows depth in the stone.

Edge

A natural, rough break along every slice.

Clear, even stone is what lets the Petra glow without blotches.

✕ Not used in Petra

Low-grade composite marble

A cheaper stand-in found in some stone-look lamps: crushed stone and resin, cast to imitate the real thing.

Composite marble: green and rust specks, patchy glow

Look

Chalky base with muddy grey streaks and scattered green or rust specks.

Light

A dull, patchy glow that hides the texture.

Material

Crushed stone set in resin, so less light gets through.

Green or rust specks and a chalky, dull glow are signs of composite stone.

Caring for Natural Stone

Alabaster is a soft stone that takes on moisture, so dry dusting is all it needs to keep its glow.

✓Switch off the power and let the lamp cool first

✓Dust with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush

✓Handle slices with clean, dry hands during installation

Avoid

✕Water, damp cloths, and steam

✕Sprays, polish, and household cleaners

✕Knocking or pressing on the rough slice edges

Before You Order

Straight answers on size, installation, light and care for the Petra wall lamp.

Still deciding on a height?

Send us your wall height and where the lamp will go: kay@severnlighting.com

Which height should I choose?

All five sizes are 5.1″ wide; only the height changes. The 2- and 3-tier (11.8″ and 15.8″) suit bedside walls and narrow hallways, the 5-tier (20.5″) fits beside a mirror or on a study wall, and the 7- and 9-tier (28.4″ and 36.2″) need a tall wall such as a living room or stairwell.

Can I buy a matching pair?

Yes. Every height is offered as a set of two, so choose the set option at checkout for both sides of a bed, mirror, or fireplace.

How is it installed, and how high should it go?

It is hardwired to a wall junction box and mounts vertically, so plan on a licensed electrician. Center it about 60–66″ above the floor, or level with the center of a mirror you are flanking. Compatible with a wall switch (not included).

What kind of light does it give?

Integrated LEDs in warm light (3000K) sit behind the stone, so the glow comes through each slice rather than from a visible bulb. There are no bulbs to buy, and the lamp is not dimmable.

Is every lamp the same?

No. Each slice is natural alabaster with its own veining, tone, and rough-cut outline, so no two lamps look exactly alike.

How do I clean it?

Switch off the power and dust the slices with a soft dry cloth or brush. Keep water and cleaners off the stone; the care guide above lists what to avoid.
