The Alden Interlocking Alabaster Column Floor Lamp stacks notched blocks of natural alabaster into a single square tower, each one cut with a curved bite out of its face so the pieces lock together and step slightly as they rise. Light sits inside the column and passes outward through the stone, so the whole tower lifts as one warm mass rather than glowing from an opening.

Because every block is cut from its own piece of alabaster, the veining changes as your eye travels up the column, and the notched joints throw their own soft shadows across the face. It stands 63″ tall on a footprint under ten inches square, so it fills vertical space in a corner or beside a sofa without taking floor room, and sits on a slim dark base that keeps the stone visually clear of the floor.

At 9.4″ square and 63″ tall (24 × 24 × 160cm), Alden asks for very little floor — a gap of about 12″ is enough, which is why it works in the space between a bed and a nightstand or in the angle behind a sofa. Give it a spot you pass close to, since the veining and the shadows cast by the notched joints only read from a few feet away. It plugs into a standard outlet on a 59″ cord, which can be extended on request.
